All this talk about the Yaesu FT-818ND being ‘end of production’ made me wonder what’s coming next…my guess is it will be a touch screen job to rival the wonderful ICOM IC-705. That’s fine, but it won’t be as slim and compact as the FT-818ND…which of course is the successor to the FT-817ND and original FT-817.
The Last of the FT-818NDs in the UK
So, a trip to Canny Components in Sunniside for some bits and bobs, turned into a bit more. They bought the last two FT-818NDs that Yaesu UK had…and I have the one with the highest serial number. I found it in the back of the car when I got home…honest I did 😉
There really isn’t much difference between it and the FT-817ND, but I thought I’d have a refresh.
They had three more on the shelf when I left…one could be yours if you’re quick.
