I’ve had a D-Link DAP-1522 Wireless Access Point configured in Bridge Mode for some years now. Today I needed to reconfigure it for my new broadband service…easy I thought. Erm…no…not so easy.

It should have been, because I hadn’t kept notes on what to do…but I spent some time figuring it out, yet again.
These devices are wonderful, have tons of features, but can be difficult to access for setup unless you know what you need to know; the D-Link manual is very complex and the setup access instructions they provide, simply don’t seem to work. The DAP-1522 is ideal if you have up to four cabled network devices which you need to connect to your main WiFi; Bridge Mode. You can also use it as a Wireless Access point, connected to your main router.

The easiest way to set up the device or reconfigure it is as follows:
- Ensure your web browser is Java enabled; Opera and Firefox are recommended
- Connect the DAP-1522 directly to your computer’s ethernet port using a crossover type cable; they are often yellow for some reason
- Power up the wireless access point DAP-1522
- Change the IP address of your computer to 192.169.0.210 with a subnet mask of 255.255.255.0 – leave DG and other settings blank
- Connect the access point to the computer and in the browser URL type: http://192.168.0.50/
- Enter Username as Admin and leave the password blank
- This opens the Setup Wizard
- Fill your boots…the setup wizard is ideal for most users

I performed a factory reset before running the setup wizard.
