After the fairly long ‘fixathon’, I took my G3LS out for a short ride…after checking oil flow as always. Beforehand, some of the petrol drained from the tank before Christmas was returned to the tank and the tyres were inflated to the correct pressure. I had already filled the primary chaincase with oil to the requisite level…and this time it remained in the case.
Once started…at first kick…and then warmed up, I took the bike on a roughly four mile round trip. We’re still in lockdown, and I know many motorcyclists and pedal cyclists go ‘hunting for milk’ and ‘for regular exercise’, but I’d rather wait until restrictions are eased.
My bike ran very well, the gearbox feels much smoother than before…I’m happy for now.
One of the most important things on the bike is the oil pump. There is slight weeping from the rear cover plate…so that will be removed, cleaned and a new gasket and screws fitted.
I have a small list of things I wish to investigate and / or replace; two are the ageing tyres and tubes.
