I’ve added this post in the hope that it might help some vintage bathroom owners 🙂
If you, like me, have a perfectly good but vintage Ideal Standard Michelangelo Bathroom Suite, chances are the small plastic ‘bushes’ on the towel rails have failed by now. They still work…but the rail is loose and rattles.
I don’t believe in replacing stuff just because it isn’t the latest in style…my bathrooms were expensive when new, they are still in great condition and I like them. So, I decided to find a replacement for the plastic bushes. Several options were explored, but a chance conversation with a friend yielded an almost perfect solution in the form of plastic tapered plugs.
Normally these are only available in lots of 1,000 or more as they are cheap as chips…but one supplier I found would sell small quantities. I bought 24 and they are available in any colour as long as it’s red 😉 You won’t notice…really you won’t.
They are identical in every way to the originals except for colour. The link you need is here, then you want the P14 variant of the plug.
Hopefully this will keep your Ideal Standard Michelangelo Towel Rails rotating smoothly and quietly for many years to come.
