The following tables have a selection of HF/VHF and solar propagation data, which will hopefully help you work out which band is best to use right now.  The data is centered as far as possible on the UK, but some is from the feed in Tromso, Norway…it is the closest to the UK.  Note: if the Sunlight Map looks wrong, refresh your browser screen and all will be well.
